Or maybe a combination of the both. It’s your holiday, so you write the script!

Jaipur requires 5 days to discover – we’ve got it.

Jaipur is a city of great beauty in Northern India, capital of Rajasthan State – referred to as the Pink City – we think it’s no coincidence that Pink is the colour of love. Jaipur is an easy city to fall in love with, which is why we have allocated FIVE glorious days to discover her charms. She is a city that bewitches with her beautiful jewellery, her vivid colour, her noise, her flower markets filled to the brim with the fresh smells of marigolds. She hustles, and bustles, her intricate Palaces and spicy street foods, yes, her list goes on and on. Of course, she is well known for her astounding crafts that have been nurtured over centuries by skilled artisans, handed down generation after generation. Her beautiful pieces ranging from fine paintings, outstanding jewellery, gorgeous textiles – both block printed and embroidered and of course, Jaipur’s famous blue pottery. We would be surprised if you could leave empty – handed. Giles Tillotson writer and lecturer on Indian architecture and history.

Jaipur’s rose-tinted Rajmahal Palace, an Art Deco–inflected abode that was once home to the city’s Maharaja, is done up in a riot of color—with 46 gorgeous bespoke wallpapers, from fuchsia to mint green, giving the whole place the feel of a Wes Anderson set. The hotel has been transformed into an eclectic playground for design buffs. Raas Rajmahal 5 nights

“Jaipur was made for bustle. The crowd, the commerce and the commotion were all part of the plan. It’s founders always intended it to be the busy shopping destination, that it remains today. The streets were made broad and straight so that as many people as possible could reach the shops, as quickly as possible; and if they seem a bit overloaded these days, that is a measure of the runaway success of the founders’ vision”. Giles Tillotson – writer, lecturer

More about Elisha

Elisha is an interior design enthusiast, who has her own design practice. She loves working with clients and encourages them to use bright and bold colours and textiles at any opportunity to create homes that are uniquely their own. Given her love of block printed textiles, and hand crafted ceramics, it is not surprising that she fell hard for India when she first visited with Glam Girls Lux Travels in 2019 (she may or may not have been scheming hard to get back ever since! Elisha was smitten with India’s beautiful buildings, with their lavish decorative details and gorgeous textiles and has vowed to return to India, this time, with an empty suitcase! She feels privileged to work with Jean in hand selecting the beautiful hotels, that will delight all, with their beautiful decorations.

More about Jean

Jean’s wanderlust for India was first tasted back in 2007, and since then India continues to call her name, loudly and often! If you ask her what it is exactly about India that she loves, she’d be hard to pin-point it exactly. I suspect it stems from way back when she visited the Oriental Plaza in South Africa, the country of her birth. She smiles now as she remembers those crunchy samosas, she first tasted, and the piles of fabrics she would take home – she adores a comfy cushion or three! Jean’s first ‘Girls Only’ tour to India was in 2013, and since then has introduced many new friends, to her beloved India. Jean has a thick ‘black book’ of the best shops to find the best bargains, across Rajasthan – and she can’t wait to taste those delicious potato samosas, again! She waits you, at the Imperial Hotel – Delhi.

Why we love India

Warmth of her people, the beauty of the country, the wild pace, the unforgettable smells, delicious food, the shopping.. the Palace accommodation. Amazing light – the energy, the sounds, the buzz, making friends, pure joy, indulgent humanity, centuries old history, Indian art décor, bright, clashy, flashy colours, roses that smell, crystal chandeliers, the bling, and the gold, the jingal, and the jangle of an arm full of bangles, the finest of silks, and the peacocks strutting, amazing biryani, masala omelette, garlic naan, the very talented designers, Aravalli mountains, the flurry of the pigeons, honking of horns, masala Chai, and old Monk Rum – oh India xx

We look most forward to meeting you in India xx
