After breakfast you will proceed to Tarangire National Park for your game drive. Once you’ve entered Tarangire, you’ll begin your game drive across a rich vista of endless golden savannah that surrounds the Tarangire River. The river itself runs throughout the year and is a vital source of water for the animals of the region during the dry season. Lined with acacia and Baobab trees, the river is regularly visited by the park’s large elephant population as well as other herbivores such as zebras and antelopes. A picnic lunch with a view of the river is a great way to take it all in, but you’ll have to keep on your toes as the local monkey population does its best to separate you from your lunch! Perched high on the rim of the Great Rift Valley, Escarpment Luxury Lodge is a serene haven overlooking the wonder of Lake Manyara below. One night here will have us totally relaxed and refreshed.
Wednesday 1 March 2024 – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Ngorongoro Crater Ndutu – After breakfast, you’ll depart for Ngorongoro Crater; considered by some to be the Eighth Wonder of the World. When you get your first glimpse of this vast, verdant caldera from the panoramic viewpoint, you’ll soon understand why it has earned such a lofty reputation. The crater is home to a large number of predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, as well as a large population of wildebeest, zebras, antelope, cape buffalo, and more. It is truly one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. After a picnic lunch, your journey will continue towards the Ndutu plains. Lake Masek Tented Lodge is situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, overlooking Lake Masek. This will be our home for the next two nights.. this unique location is witness to the wildebeest migration which takes place from December to April each year – we’ll also meet the local Maasai.
Thursday 2 March 2024 – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
You’ll be up before dawn so that we can enjoy a sunrise game drive along the shores of Lake Ndutu. As far as the eye can see, thousands upon thousands of animals graze on the lush grass. Y After your day long exploration of Ndutu, you’ll stay overnight in the region. We’re also hoping to see the baby Wildebeest being born! It’s that season….
Optional: The adventure of a hot air balloon safari over one of Africa’s most famous and majestic national parks is not easily captured in words. The quiet of floating over plains, the exhilaration of climbing into the pink-blue of the early dawn on invisible currents, the breathless awe of peering over the basket’s edge at this vast swathe of wild Africa. This is something you really must experience for yourself.(Additional charges)
Friday 3 March 2024 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After an early breakfast, we’ll set off for what is known affectionately as ‘big cat country, the Seronera region of the Serengeti is the park’s most visited region. One of the best places to witness the Wildebeest Migration during the early months of the year, the Central Serengeti boasts the most accommodation options and the best opportunity to see big cats such as lions, cheetahs, and the always elusive leopard in the wild. The presence of these predators in no way dissuades herbivores from calling the region home, and visitors can expect to see everything from diminutive impala to towering elephants and giraffes as they drive amidst the kopjes and acacia trees. Lemala Ewanjan is an authentic intimate tented camp set in a secluded part of the game-rich Seronera Valley in Central Serengeti. Our tented camp will be home for two nights.
Saturday 4 March 2024 – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today you can choose when you will do game drive and when you want to relax in the lodge. You can wake before dawn to take part in a sunrise game drive. As the sun sets fire to the savannah, you’ll have the best opportunity to see predators in action as they take advantage of the low light and cooler temperatures to look for an early meal. It’s an ideal time to see lions, leopards, and cheetahs in action as well as the early morning movements of the wildebeest, zebra, and other herbivores. You can also have your usual morning game drive after breakfast, and return to the lodge for hot lunch. From 1:00pm until 3:00pm, it is hotter than the rest of the day, so you may choose to stay in the lodge after lunch, and start another game drive in the late afternoon. You have another option to take to the skies with a sunrise hot air balloon safari and champagne breakfast. Speak with your safari expert about adding this once in a lifetime experience to your safari.
