Turkey is a large peninsula that bridges the continents of Europe and Asia. Turkey is surrounded on three sides by the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Aegean Sea. Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey, is built on land in the Bosporus seaway.

Istanbul is on two continents. Istanbul (Old Constantinople) was founded on seven hills. Ankara, not Istanbul, is the capital of Turkey. The original name of Istanbul is “Byzantium” The story of Santa Claus originated in Turkey. The Turks love tea. Turkey has an exciting, young demographic.

 This unique Insider’s tour of Turkey highlights amazing ancient architectures, we’ll be tasting the finest of her delicacies, relaxing in traditional Turkish baths, floating gently past deep canyons and lush valleys in hot air balloon, haggling for the best of leather, and carpets, and spices and lanterns, in ancient markets, and enjoying the warm Mediterrean Seas.  Bring it on!

Day 1 Friday 22 September’2023 – Arrival in Istanbul

Upon arrival meet our staff at the airport and transfer to the hotel, where remainder of the day is at your leisure. Welcome dinner will be in one of the kebab restaurants of Istanbul. (D)



Day 2 Saturday 23 September’2023 – Istanbul

Today’s included excursions are World Heritage Historic Areas of Istanbul; Basilica of Hagia Sophia (now mosque), an architectural intelligence and the first masterpiece in Byzantine architecture, Hippodrome, ancient Greek stadium planned for horse racing and especially chariot racing; Blue Mosque whose interior walls are covered with twenty thousand blue Iznik tiles and finally magnificent Topkapi Palace that was once home to the great Sultans.

Day 3 Sunday 24 September’ 2023 Istanbul

Our sightseeing begins with Cruise on the Bosphorus, along the way, viewing the Dolmabahce Palace and the Beylerbeyi Palace, a nineteenth century palace on the Asian side of Istanbul.

Then explore Istanbul’s Haci Bekir sweet shop, selling Turkish delight for two centuries, largely thanks to the business savvy of generations of women and Spice Bazaar, where the scent of hundreds of spices permeates the air. After crossing the Golden Horn on Galata Bridge that connects Stamboul, the heart of old Istanbul, to the “new” city of Beyoglu to the north, we will have historic underground funicular, which is one of the oldest of its kind and historic tram for unique photos. Our tour continues with shopping, cooking class and dinner with chef lady and her family. Overnight in Istanbul. (B, D)



 Day 4 Monday, 25 September’2023. Istanbul – Fly to Cappadocia

After breakfast, transfer to the Istanbul Airport to have a direct flight to Cappadocia. Discover Mazi Underground City, containing tombs dating back to the early Roman period and also contains aspects of the Byzantium period. Our tour continues with Avonos, ceramic art dating back as 2000 BC during the Hitties period. Our master potter, Mr. Galip, six generations of his family, will demonstrate, using a foot driven spinning wheel Overnight in Cappadocia. (B, D)

Day 5 Tuesday 26 September’ 2023 – Cappadocia

Enjoy optional hot air ballooning, a dream to gently float over the countryside in complete harmony with the deep canyons and lush fertile valleys of Cappadocia. Then visit Punto Carpet Cooperation, sort of a carpet farm where you will get the chance to explore the district from a cultural perspective. It has been owned and managed by the same family for 5 generations. It carries a wide selection of authentic carpets and rugs, both new and antique. After lunch in Üçhisar, at Kadineli Restaurant: A Woman’s Touch, in an old school building built in the 1960s,  we’ll  explore fascinating Goreme Valley (World Heritage Site). The lunar like landscape of this region is eerie, yet beautiful. Over thousands of years, the rain has eroded this landscape to give rise to strange rock formations known as “Fairy Chimneys”. Many of these have homes and churches carved into them. Some of the grottos are magnificently decorated with colorful frescoes depicting biblical scenes. Overnight in Cappadocia. (B, L, D)

Day 6 Wednesday 27 Sept’ 2023 Cappadocia – Fly to Izmir – Bodrum (4 hours driving)

Transfer to airport to have an early morning flight to Izmir. Then drive south to Ephesus, the largest ancient city ever uncovered. Once populated with 300,000 people, it has an enormous amphitheatre, which can still hold 24,000 spectators.  Walk down the marble covered streets, see gymnasiums, bath houses, public latrines, the library of Celsus and the Temple of Artemis.  After learning on fine Turkish Leathers in Kircilar Leather Factory, we will drive to Bodrum. Overnight in Bodrum. (B)

Day 7 Thursday 28 September’ 2023 Bodrum

Enjoy cool breezes, turquoise waters and stunning scenery on an unforgettable day on board in Bodrum. Overnight in Bodrum. (B, L)

Day 9 Saturday 30 September’ 2023 – Bodrum – Fly to Istanbul

After breakfast transfer to the Bodrum Airport to have a direct flight to Istanbul. Spend the afternoon with a guided tour (with our tour guide) of Grand Bazaar for those ‘last’ must haves on our shopping list, visit the neighborhoods, Fener and Balat, once the focal point of the social and cultural lives of Greek, Jewish and Armenian minorities, now host a Muslim population, many of whom have migrated from other cities and rural areas and do not have enough economic resources for the preservation of the architectural structures, and for the renovation and maintenance of the old buildings. Your farewell dinner will be in one of the fish restaurants of historic Cicek Pasaji (literally Flower Passage). Overnight in Istanbul. (B, D)

Day 10 Sunday 1 September’ 2023 – Istanbul Departure

After breakfast transfer to the Istanbul Airport to have a flight to home or onto Morocco (to join GGLT tour). (B)
