The city tour begins with a visit to the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. This is one of the largest mosques in the Middle East, and one of the few mosques open to non-Muslims and expatriates in Oman. It was created using the finest craftsmanship and materials. Within the Main Prayer Hall, the pulpit overlooks space for a congregation of 7,000 people. They sit on what is considered to be one of the world’s finest Persian carpets in an area illuminated by Swarovski crystal chandeliers, reflecting the appearance of the mosque’s minarets. These minarets act as a reminder of the five key elements of Islam: reciting the Muslim profession of faith; praying five times a day; giving to charity; fasting during the month of Ramadan;
and, if possible, undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
You might know that perfume is an important topic for arab people. One of the most famous brands is Amouage . We will visit their manufactory where we can see the complete process
of the perfume making and learn about the history of the brand. It was founded with the support of the late Sultan Qabus, who wanted to create a unique product suitable as a royal
gift for VIP guests. .

The last stop will be the Opera House. The Royal Opera House is the first of its kind in the Gulf States with over 1,000 seats in its main hall, occupying an area of 80,000 square metres
and set among swathes of beautiful landscaped gardens – it opened in October 2011. The design combines modern and traditional Omani styles, boasting impressive decorative
lighting and breath-taking sculptures. Musical, operatic and dance performances from local and international artists are staged here, establishing Oman as the classical music epicentre of
the Gulf States. With the entrance ticket you can join a guided tour in this building. For sure you will be surprised about the high standard of this cultural institution.

Welcome dinner will be at our hotel, a Seafood Night with all delicacies the sea has to offer.

Let’s start the day with a great breakfast before we start our trip to Barka and Nakhl . In Barka, about 80km west of Muscat, we visit a manor house, the Bait Al Numan Castle, built in the 17th century. Although it looks like a fort, it was more of a dwelling to provide overnight accommodation on the long journeys between Muscat and Rustaq. The building is well restored and really worth a visit.
In Nakhl, we mainly visit the hot springs. From here, you can also go on a short hike, although you will have to climb over rocks or perhaps dare to jump over the flowing water.

renaissance after 1970.

In the early morning, you should not miss the sunrise. Either climb the dune, ride a camel into the sunrise or take the unique chance to experience it from a hot air balloon. The hot air
balloon takes off directly from the camp. The number of places is limited. We will gladly organise a place in the basket for you. On the way leaving the desert we visit the local bedouin house and have Omani Coffee. You will enjoy their traditional ways of hospitality.
The next stop is in one of the most famous wadis, Wadi Bani Khalid. The access is easy. After a walk of about 10 minutes, we reach the first big lake in this wadi. We can put our feet
in the water and get a nice fish massage for free from fish that like to nibble on our feet. If you want to swim, you go further and after a while you find a natural pool which has clear
deep blue water and counts among the few wadis of Oman that hold water all year round. From the mountain springs, the water is led to the oasis where it sustains the typical date
palms.. Here swimming is easy and a great experience. Please note that access to the pool is much more comfortable if you wear water shoes, as the bottom is stony. Please also be
prepared for a lack of infrastructure for changing clothes. Large towels or cloths can help here. Afterwards, we continue on the coastal road towards Muscat.
